Hey Billy and Margaret,
Great you are coming! The last time we went to Mill Rythe it was during the floods. However the island where Mill Rythe is one was fine! It is a nice friendly park, not one of a big chain. Very nice people! However, I don't know about the weather mid January. Best be prepared for the worst! Still I don't think you will regret it to see PJ & The Pacemakers! And Sophie of course...

Hi Billy and Margaret, It is great that you are making the long journey to Hayling Island next January to see PJ. I do hope the weather is kind for you. We were at show in February last year and as Manja said it was during the floods but Mill Rythe was not affected too much. We had a standard chalet which was fine for us. I cannot advise on the daytime entertainment as we were out and about during the days but there seemed to be plenty to do in the village. The whole place really comes to life after dinner. Like you, we were only there to see PJ who was on the Saturday but on the other evenings the entertainment was also top class so if it is as good as last time you should have a great weekend.
See you there.
Best wishes
Dave and Wendy

My sis has said she & her partner are thinking about going to Mill Rythe. She asked if I am, so we're working things out. I could get a lift there from Canterbury with sis Chris but I cannot book yet as Linda isn't sure she's going so I may need a single or a double room.
Wonder how long P.J. will be onstage?

I was there last year, it's quite a nice little holiday village but it will be very cold in those chalets in January, so go prepared. At present I am "looking" at it but now that I have no car and will travel on buses, there's a VERY long walk from the main road down to the village - I'll have to leave booking until the last minute depends on the arthritis and torn cartilage in my leg. :-?

On facebook a P.J. fan has said that last year at Mill Rythe P.J. was only onstage for 30 minutes. The question asked on FB was "Will P.J. be onstage for maybe longer this time?"
That's a good question....Manja can you possibly tell us if the one & only Mr. P. gets extra time in January 2015?
   Thanks,
      Ron 8-)

Hi Ron, the fan who said that last year at Mill Rythe P.J. was only onstage for 30 minutes is not correct. As you know, Wendy and I were there last year (2014) and I did a report of the show at the time. P.J. was in fact on the stage for over one hour and did no less than 17 songs. It was a fantastic show and if the show in January is as good, no one will be disappointed. ;)

Thanks Dave, that is reassuring! But no doubt we will enjoy it if he is only on for 10 mins. Really looking forward to that one. Are you and Wendy coming to Boisdale? :D

Thanks Dave. In the meantime I'd e-mailed the show organisor & I was told that P.J. would be onstage for about one hour. So that's great news.
The same person/fan who remembered P.J. being onstage for 30' also said that lots of the Mill Rythe rooms were poor & damp plus the restaurant was like an army barracks. And during the day if you had no car then you were stuck the whole day in a boring place.Mind you I would get there in my car so that's no problem. No-one else was displeased so the negative remarks cannot be true but it puts a little doubt in your head when you're thinking of booking.
One other question guys & gals....which of the three evenings does P.J. appear on?
    Ron :)

Hi Marilyn & Ron, I can only say how it was for us, we had a standard chalet which was fine and the restaurant was very good. We were out and about during the days so cannot advise on the daytime entertainment. I guess some people like to moan. I must say that before that weekend the south of England had the heaviest rainfall of the year and many places were flooded, we really thought the weekend would be cancelled but Mill Rythe somehow survived and the entertainment team worked very hard to help everyone to have a good time.
Marilyn, Wendy and I will be at Boisdale, only just booked. See ya there  ;)

I shan't make Canary Wharf but I'm thinking of either Mill Rythe or Whitby.Great to see some P.J. gigs coming up & also wonderful to see that P.J. is once more on the "60's Gold" U.K. tour starting in October 2016.
Not so nice to see Chip Hawkes & Rick West (Tremeloes) both charged with indecent assault way back in 1968 allegedly on an under 16 year old girl. They appear in court in Chester next month. I sincerely hope no evidence at all surfaces as I'm certain they're completely innocent.

I also saw that about Chip Hawkes and I find it really hard to believe as he is a really nice family guy, but sometimes I think young girls threw themselves at pop stars, but why wait about 47 years to complain, I think if it was me I would rather forget it.
So glad you are going Dave and Wendy, we are also at Mill Rythe but we will get out and about in the day as I don't fancy the entertainment there. We are also going to Whitby but will only stay to see P J. on the Friday.
So excited about the gold tour!
:D

Just heard from Manja that at Mill Rythe & Whitby P.J. himself will only be onstage for 30'. The other 30' is The Pacemakers. The time P.J. performs is all to do with the fee he is receiving. So it's only about the same time onstage as P.J. gives us on "60's Gold".
Better news is that at the Boisdale Restaurant P.J. will be onstage for an hour possibly a little longer even.

I'm sorry I've been away so long - a few health problems have taken over my life.  The person who complained about Mill Rythe is a nut - I've been there frequently and I was there for PJ, he was fabulous.  With regard to not getting out during the day, Michael & I walked up to the main road and caught a bus into Havant and spent a happy few hours shopping.  I shan't be able to walk in January and sister Pat and I will fill our time no doubt in some way.  The food is very good there - and if you don't like what they give you go get an omelette, Michael tells me they are really good. Let's hope the misery isn't there next year. :-/

I too, would like to hear the answer to Billy and Margaret's question.
I phoned Mill Rythe and even they don't know yet what night PJ will be appearing. I would think PJ and Manja should know by now. Maybe we will hear soon.
Not long to go  :)

It was a great weekend at Mill Rythe The holiday park was completely sold out for this 60's weekend. The entertainment was top class featuring great bands such as Edison Lighthouse, The New Honeycombs, Marmalade, The Pacemakers with P J Proby, Union Gap, Cupids Inspiration and The Fourmost.
It is a shame now that so many of these bands have very few original members but their replacements are doing a great job keeping their music alive.
The one truly original artist is of course P.J.Proby. PJ was the star act on the Saturday and was backed by The Pacemakers. It was disappointing that the star act was only given 30 minutes for his set.
PJ, being a perfectionist, was not happy that his backing tracks that provided strings, brass and backing vocals were not working but in spite of this he still put on a great show. PJ was on stage for about 35 minutes and did 8 songs. Stagger Lee, Lets Have a Party, I'm Coming Back, Somewhere, Niki Hoeky (acapella), Lonely Weekends, Ain't Gonna Kiss Ya and Hold Me.
Lovely to see Manja again still working so hard for PJ and of course all the other great fans that Marilyn has already mentioned.
Hope to see you all at Whitby.
Best Wishes
Dave  :)
