I Love P.J. Proby!
Ashton Under Lyne

Hi - I have just stumbled across a video on YouTube (put up by jimmyproby) of PJ singing King For a Day and claiming to be written by James Marcus Smith.
I know the history of this song very well and it actually written by a very good friend of mine and of PJ.
I refer to a very fine singer called Johnny Rich (sadly no longer with us) and was the title song of a musical called King for A Day and based on PJ's life story and performed in various theatres in the North West.
John used to do backing vocals for PJ when he was working around the Manchester area. The song was recorded by PJ in John's kitchen in Ashton Under Lyne and the full recording starts by PJ saying "I ain't never sang this song in my life before".
It would be nice if someone could contact 'jimmyproby' and request the approbation of the song be correctly given to Johnny. I am confident that PJ would confirm what I am saying.
Thank and best regards.
